EU Officials Decry US Move as ‘Coercion’
European leaders including Emmanuel Macron charged the US administration of “coercion and intimidation”, following the visa restrictions targeted individuals who have been central to campaigns to introduce legislation governing American tech companies.
“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have spearheaded organised efforts to pressure American platforms to suppress American viewpoints they oppose,” wrote the US secretary of state online. “The current administration will no longer tolerate such actions of extraterritorial censorship.”
