Ten sentenced of digital abuse targeting Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has convicted ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced accusations of circulating untruths regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued conditional custodial sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has not yet been published.
A circulating unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's gender.
Their lawsuit contends that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she taught at his secondary school.
The two married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
